Social Studies

 

The third grade curriculum centers around four themes of study that acquaint children with their community and communities around the world.

Theme 1 - Communities and Maps 
Theme 2 - Communities and Natural Resources 
Theme 3 - Government and Citizenship 
Theme 4 - Communities Yesterday and Today

In the fourth grade, students learn about geography and the seven regions of the United States. The curriculum focuses on three areas of study:

Theme 1 - The Earth and Its People 
Theme 2 - Regions of the United States 
Theme 3 - connections: The United States and the World

In the fifth grade, students learn about the physical regions of the United States and the history of the United States from the first Americans to the writing of our constitution. The curriculum concentrates on the following themes:

Theme 1 - America's Geography 
Theme 2 - A New World 
Theme 3 - Forming a New Nation 
Theme 4 - Growth of the New Nation
