Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Today, St. Luke, writes about how his Gospel came into being. In a similar but not in an identical way, three other Gospels came into being: The Gospels of St. Matthew, St. Mark and St. John. After Pentecost they were sent to all the world to proclaim the joyful news. Jesus sending them did not say: Write my teachings to give others to read, but “go…and teach.” Thus, He entrusted the teaching of the living word. The Apostles were eyewitnesses of the events of which they spoke. For them it was not necessary to use books which would depict the teaching of the Master. But many of the teachers did not see nor hear the personal Jesus. St. Luke the Evangelist belonged to these. Many began to write the teachings of the Master for the need of evangelization. St. Luke, educated as a doctor, began to write the Gospel and decided to take the research of the existing writings and testimony. That is why his description is considered more accurate than that of the other evangelists. All the Gospels are not historical events; there are some inaccuracies, but they are works written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the goal of which is to pass on the meaning of Jesus’ teachings. They all confirm that Jesus is the Son of God, who really came on earth to save each person who opens himself to His love. Ask yourself today: Do I have Holy Scripture in my home; do I read the Holy Scripture and value the ideas they contain?
My heartfelt thanks to President Kazimierz Milewski, the entire Board, and all members of Polonia Club for organizing the beautiful New Year’s Eve Ball in our Handzel Center. Also many thanks for their offering of $1,000.00 for using the hall. This is an excellent example of cooperation in fulfilling the parish’s financial obligations. I encourage other parish organizations that after determining the profitability of their social events, they may also be in a position to help the parish in fulfilling its financial responsibilities.
We are searching for an individual or organization to sponsor the installation of a video projector and screen system for showing films on a large screen in Borowczyk Hall. The entire system with the installation will cost $4,000.00. Our school children as well as adults will benefit from this system where all can view many interesting and educational films. Many parishes have this system for a long time, and we are awaiting a good-hearted sponsor.
I sincerely encourage the continued support of our excellent St. Constance Parish School. I am proud of our teachers who dedicate their free time to different types of subjects of interest to pass on additional knowledge. I encourage all to participate in the school Valentine Dinner Dance which will take place on February 13th at the White Eagle Banquet Hall in Niles. Tickets can be obtained in the school office or on weekendss after all Masses in Borowczyk Hall.
Those living at home or in homes for the aged and cannot come to church for Mass, can participate in the Mass transmitted on Channel 2 every Sunday from 5:30 to 6:30am. The Mass is celebrated by Passionist Fathers in New York. More information about this can be obtained on www.TheSundayMass.org
May Jesus bless us all and our dear friends who visited us today.
