Dear Parishioners and Friends,
In today’s Gospel Jesus explains that we all need reformation and a change for the better in our lives. Jesus compares a vain person’s life to a crop-failed fig tree. The fig tree was given one more chance to bear fruit; so God gives each of us one more chance. We ask: Do we take advantage of this chance; do we waste this chance just as we have wasted other chances in our lives?
To couples who are experiencing crises in their marriage I recommend the special weekend program “Retrouvaille”. This program is exceptional because it is conducted by couples who lived through crises. This program will help you to rediscover our values such as: love, patience, mutual respect, devotion. For more information call 1-800-470-2230 or go on line at www.retrouvaille.org
I encourage all to participate in the Mission Masses in the English and Polish languages in our parish. We have invited priests who will help us to rediscover Jesus and His love. Please check our bulletin for the schedules of our Lenten recollections.
A Mass for Vicariate IV during which Bishop Thomas Paprocki will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation to adults will take place Tuesday, May 4th at 7:00pm at St. Ferdinand Church. Adults who have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation can be prepared in the English, Polish or Spanish languages. Those who want to be prepared in the English language should call Pat Redington at 312-534-8047; in the Polish language, call Sister Anna Strycharz at 773-622-5900; in the Spanish language, call Juan Carlos Farias-Gonzales at 312-534-8049. Those wishing to be prepared for Confirmation must present their Baptismal certificate.
I invite all the ushers serving at Masses in our church to an organizational-social meeting on Sunday, March 14th, at 2:45pm in Father Martin Borowczyk Hall. My sincere thanks to all the ushers; your services are invaluable. Many thanks to Joseph D’Anna our Head Usher, Father Robert £ojek and Deacon George Gniech for taking charge of the ushers. I cordially invite new ushers who would like to serve our parish. If you would like to serve as a volunteer in the parish office or would like to get involved in any other way in the life of the parish, you are invited to come with your ideas.
Attention to all who will soon be 65 years old or already are, or persons recognized as unable to work: On March 7th at 2:45pm in Father Martin Borowczyk Hall an informational meeting will be held to advise you of the options available in “Medicare”; also the possibility of getting a state and federal subsidy for medicine. For more information call Beata Bochenek at 773-939-2020.
Birthday greetings to our Music Director Marie Blecka!
May our Lord Jesus bless us all and our guests who visited us today.
