Today Jesus teaches us how to be modest and humble. This lesson was useful not only to the Pharisees who put on airs above others, but also can be useful to all of us. Let us notice how much pride, egoism, arrogance, conceit and greed there is in the people surrounding us. Let us also make a good examination of conscience. It is those with a negative attitude who, ignored by Jesus, are the reason for the destabilization and destruction in the family, school, work, parish and in every situation. Thus, let us learn how to be the seeds of love, kindness, forgiveness, peace, mutual respect and understanding. Let us know how to make positive changes beginning with ourselves
I express my thanks to our parish secretary Renata Drag for her positive attitude; diligence, kindness, warmth, frankness, friendliness, smile, willingness to help all who come to the parish office. I appreciate the hours she spent on the telephone or in the office counseling desperate persons, the lost, weak in faith, those living through different crises in their lives. Renata, knowing the languages, gave excellent advice to Americans and Poles. There was no work in the office which she could not carry out. Soon she will be leaving permanently to be with her parents in Arizona. We will miss her and wish her well-being and luck.
Succeeding Renata is Anna Grochowska who also knows the English and Polish languages. For many years she worked in a managerial position always surrounded by many people. Anna likes sports especially sailing and volleyball. Many of you know her mother Barbara Grochowska, who for many years works as a volunteer in the rectory.
This weekend the second collection is for helping the Church in Poland. Those who cannot make an offering today can take an envelope from the pew and return it with your offering next week.
Today is the day of our parish family picnic. Come with your families to Bunker Hill. It is a day for families to get together for a happy beginning of a new school and REP year. I hope that the teachers and children had a wonderful vacation and on Monday will happily return to school.
I encourage your support for the banquet organized for the Bishop Abramowicz Seminary. The banquet will be held on Sunday, September 12th, in the Banquet Hall of the “Sheraton Chicago Hotel
