This Week Letter – June 2, 2019
From the Pastor’s Desk
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of Our Lord, its observance having been transferred from Thursday to this day, which means we are already forty days into the Easter Season and only one week remains until we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Descent of the Holy Spirit. The Ascension is the time when Jesus returned to His Father in order to prepare a place for us and to send us the Comforter so we would not feel powerless and abandoned. Our church now moves into the upper room where along with Mary, we will await the gift of the Holy Spirit, Who will give us the strength and the wisdom to carry out the evangelization of the world. We spend this week in anticipation of the Coming of the Holy Spirit, Pentecost, which we will celebrate next Sunday. Pentecost will be followed, in turn,
by Trinity Sunday and Corpus Christi.
