Brothers and Sisters,

One more time . . . but . . . pray God . . . differently.

Today, on this first Sunday of Advent, we begin a new liturgical year, which is to afford us a completely new spiritual beginning.  The liturgical year in which we recreate all the events of salvation history is not meant to be a liturgical cycle of “Same old . . same old”,  but rather something to help us consider entering into its mysteries more deeply than before.  Similar to rereading a great book or  again watching an excellent classical film, so too, our every passage through the liturgical year ought to reveal elements we had not noticed before and remind us of important matters we knew but had forgotten.

So let us enter this season one more time, only maybe a little differently.

Your Priest,

Fr. Paul
