It is worth everything to avoid evil so as not to be a source of scandal, and above all else, to remain faithful to Jesus. At times, this loyalty comes at a very high price; as when a severing must be so radical and painful, that its strong comparison to Christ’s cutting off of the hand or plucking out of the eye, seem aptly accurate. Choosing what is difficult, in our acceptance of Christ, sometimes does demand heroism. God, however, gives us the power to persevere in good. We only need to cling to Him with confidence and immerse ourselves in His love.
