This Week Letter – April 19, 2020

Brothers and Sisters,

I would like to know so much how to please God and always desire the same as He does. Of course, God has already answered the question “What do you want from us Lord”, with the words “You shall love the Lord God with all your heart, all your soul and with your entire mind”, and “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

This means God wants us to fall in love with Him. Devotion to God’s Mercy, called the Chaplet, allows us to show our love and appreciation for this great gift – God’s merciful love, and when we do, we are transformed by Him so that we can become merciful as God.

By human reckoning, in these, I dare to say, crazy times, we look with concern upon tomorrow, like the Apostles, when the Lord was taken from them. Often, I realize that I will not survive if I do not begin to live as God desires.

I want to be patient like HIM, I want to be loving like HIM, I want to be merciful like HIM, I want to trust HIM just as He trusted me by allowing me to stand at the Altar. I want people looking for me to find me in prayer or helping my neighbor. Like Mary and Joseph, they found Him in the Temple preaching the Word, or when He helped others, giving them all of Himself, finally to take the Cross into His arms. We must learn from Him.

Today, brothers and sisters, I pray that you can be like Him. It doesn’t matter who you are, what profession you have or whether you have a loving family or not. Let us fall in love with Him, and then the adversity we experience will not be so bad.

I hope we’ll see each other soon.

Your Priest,

Fr. Paul Barwikowski
